First Annual American's Regional Classics Restaurant Award
On May 4th, 1998 Doris & Ed’s restaurant was the recipient of The James Beard Foundation’s First Annual America’s Regional Classics Restaurant Award. It is given to a locally owned and operated regional restaurant with timeless appeal that has been in operation for at least ten years. Additionally, the restaurant must serve quality food that reflects the unique history and character of its community.

The James Beard Foundation Awards were established in 1990, to recognize the outstanding achievement and excellence in the culinary, and related professions. They have become the highest honors awarded to fine food and beverage professionals in North America. The Foundation, based in New York City, is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to furthering the practice of culinary arts.
